SUMMARY:The Mock Trial of Evonne Meeks
DESCRIPTION:On October 18th\, some members of the Jackson County Bar Association will take part in a mock jury trial of Mrs. Jane Doe. This event will take place in the Jackson County Courthouse and will be an opportunity for local attorneys to showcase to the public what happens during an investigation and subsequent trial of a person charged with a serious crime. \nThe mock trial will include witnesses for the prosecution\, witnesses for the defense and will be offered to a panel of jurors who will ultimately decide the guilt or innocence of Mrs. Jane Doe. The defendant has been arrested and is standing trial for the murder of her husband following an argument in their home. \nFrom time to time we will be releasing details about the investigation and other details about the alleged crime. This case is not an actual investigation or prosecution of an actual crime here in Jackson County. Instead\, it is meant to be a learning tool for local attorneys\, law enforcement and members of the general public. \nWe will have a number of opportunities for members of the public to take in the trial\, either as a witness or as a juror. Or\, the public is welcome to simply watch the proceedings. \nDid she commit the crime of murder? That’s for the jury to decide. \nFor more details about this event\, please contact the Law Office of Edmiston and Edmiston at 256-259-0834.
